I'm involved in Girl Scouts, which may seem lame at first, but Girl Scouts is a great way to get involved in your community. My troop and I just finished working on this HUGE project- our silver award. This is basically the secon highest award we can earn. There are all of these specific guide lines on what you have to do, how much time is spent on it, and so. My troop and I are all madly in love with animals, so we knew right away we wanted to do something involving them. I knew of a local shelter in pretty bad shape, that we had just adopted a dog from. They had nothing for us to take her ome with, and the same thing happened to my friend the year before. If we hadn't had a dog before we would have had nothing for her for the first few days, so we decided to take matters into our own hands. We created new owner care packages for the Animal Control to give to people adopting new animals. Tese packages contain a leash, a collar, a bowl, a few toy, and treats to get people through the first night with their new pet (cat or dog). The people at the shelter were amazed at how much people had donated just for them.
So go on and make a difference in your community. Whether it's by joining Girl Scouts, or simply helping people in your area.
